Mission & Objectives
We aim to raise public awareness of dementia, educate the general public on brain health care strategies, and enhance care and support to dementia patients, their families and caregivers.
Agency Introduction
Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease is a registered non-profit making charity organisation founded in 2010 by the late Professor Charles K. Kao and his wife, Mrs Gwen Kao.
Scope of Services & Highlight
1. Reaching Out Dementia Caregiver Support Programme (REACH): Provides 500 dementia caregivers with free well-being assessment and counseling services
2. Eldergarten: Aims to eatsblish more daycare centres specialized in dementia care, such as the Yan Oi Tong Clarea Au Eldergarten, service sessions at the CFSC Mind-Lock Memory and Cognitive Training Centre etc
3. Jockey Club Charles Kao Brain Health Services: This service is co-funded by the Foundation and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and operated by the St. James' Settlement. The mobile service vehicle has within the vehicle meeting rooms and activity rooms. It provides free screening, information and training for people with suspected dementia. Aims to visit the 18 districts in Hong Kong and co-organize activities with various social welfare organizations
4. Brain Health Education Programme: Enhances primary and secondary students' knowledge on dementia through talks, interactive drama and puppet shows
5. Caregivers Supporting Programme: Subsidizes various dementia supporting programmes.
